They Rest Above the River

  • Richmond Main Public Library 101 East Franklin Street Richmond, VA, 23219 United States (map)

The Chamber Music Society of Central Virginia kicks off its 19th season with the premiere of “Our Pictures,” a new major chamber music work for 10 players written by composers with ties to Richmond that were inspired by the people, places and fine art found in the historic city. The concert includes music of Chloe MacKenzie Biggs, Benjamin Broening, Krystal Folkestad, Antonio Garcia, Anthony Smith, Zachary Wadsworth, and Donovan Williams. This culmination of a three-year project  will take listeners on a memorable journey through the nature, art, people and places of Richmond – from the James River rapids, to street murals and community gardens, to the inspiring words of Maggie Walker.

You can stream the concert live from the Richmond Public Library at this page.
