The Greater O Antiphons

  • Church of St. Vincent Ferrer 869 Lexington Avenue New York, NY, 10065 United States (map)

The patron saint of music, St. Cecilia, whose feast day is celebrated in November each year, and Mary, the mother of Jesus, are two of the central figures of devotion in the Catholic tradition. In the splendid neo-Gothic space of St Vincent Ferrer in New York City, Musica Viva NY (directed by Alejandro Hernandez-Valdez) will explore works both well loved and newly written in honor of these two remarkable women, including Zachary’s set of O Antiphons, Franz Biebl’s Ave Maria, and plainchant of Hildegard von Bingen.
